A Note From Our Founder
Hi, I’m Dr. Kelly Standish-Mayo
At North Florida Sleep & Airway, we focus on the source of breathing issues. A narrow airway can affect sleep, energy, and even the way teeth and jaws develop.
For many patients, airway expansion and orthodontics create more space to breathe and support a healthier bite. As the arches widen, the tongue has room to rest in the right place and airflow becomes more natural.
If you have sleep apnea or snoring, we also offer Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT). This small, retainer-like device gently positions the lower jaw forward to help keep the airway open during sleep.
Some patients come to us after struggling with CPAP. OAT is quiet, compact, and easy to travel with, which makes it easier to use consistently.
If you are not waking rested, have been told you snore, or want a long-term plan to improve breathing and alignment, we can help.

Hi, I’m Dr. Catherine Chiafair
Dr. Catherine Chiafair began her journey into dental sleep medicine in 2020 and later earned the distinction of Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine in 2024. What began as a desire to expand her clinical expertise and offer a more comfortable treatment option for patients with untreated obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), who were unable or unwilling to tolerate CPAP therapy, quickly evolved into a deeper professional calling.
Through her studies and clinical experience, Dr. Chiafair developed a broader understanding of how profoundly sleep impacts overall health and wellness. She became increasingly aware of the widespread under-diagnosis and under-treatment of obstructive sleep apnea within her community, as well as the strong connections between sleep-disordered breathing and numerous medical and psychological conditions that are becoming more common today.
Dr. Chiafair is particularly passionate about raising awareness around sleep health in children. She recognizes that many children experiencing poor sleep and disordered breathing are often mislabeled as having behavioral challenges or anxiety, when underlying sleep issues may be contributing to these concerns.
Driven by these insights, Dr. Chiafair chose to refocus her career on dental sleep medicine. Her mission is to help patients regain control of their health and quality of life through education, practical lifestyle adjustments, and oral appliance therapy. She believes that poor breathing patterns, inadequate nutrition, and unhealthy habits contribute to poor sleep—ultimately affecting every aspect of well-being.
Dr. Chiafair is dedicated to addressing the unmet needs of patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea and chronic snoring by providing compassionate, evidence-based care. She is passionate about educating her community on the importance of proper nasal breathing, healthy sleep habits, and the vital role sleep plays in long-term health.
She looks forward to partnering with patients on their journey toward better sleep, improved health, and a higher quality of life.
